Standard Standard Standard

Just because you say something is a standard does not make it a standard. Our marching band is not required to play at pep rallies, we do because we can, nothing more about it. Sitting in English today, I was not sure if we (as a marching band) were going to be playing at the pep session tomorrow because I could not remember, for the life of me, if we had played the previous years. Well this kid, let's call him Jack, we'll even give him a last name... how about Reynolds? Well this kid, Jack Reynolds, butted into my conversation and just flat out said "It's a standard for the Pride of (Insert School Name Here) to play at pep sessions." Well Jack.. No it's not, just because we do play does not mean we have to.
